Renowned film actress Aasia died on March 9, 2013 in Canada where she
was migrated from Pakistan in late
eighties after getting married with Mr.
Qaisarani. She was a popular and
successful heroine of Punjabi films,
specially her pairing with Sulran Rahi
remained for several years. Aasia debut
her film career with Insan Aur Aadmi and
as film heroine Riaz Shahid’s film
Gharnata. Moula Jatt, Dil Aur Duniya,
Noukar Wohti Da, Wehshi Jatt, Jeera Sain,
Aag, Sehrey Ke Phool, Jeera Balade,
Namak Haram, Chakar Baz were her some of

TV’s senior artists Mazhar Ali is
battling for his life in an American
Hospital and his condition is very
critical as he’s on ventilator right
now. After a severe heart attack, Mazhar
Ali was evacuated to the hospital in
Houston, USA. Where keeping in view his
serious condition, the team of doctors
attending Mazhar Ali had immediately
shifted him to the Intensive Care Unit
of the hospital, where he is struggling
for his life while being put on
ventilator for artificial breathing and
according to the doctors; his condition

A meeting of Pakistan Singers
Association was held at Lahore on
January
21, 2013
to condole the death of noted singer,
Mehnaz Begum. Ghulam Abbas, the
president of the Association chaired the
meeting. The participants of the meeting
paid a rich tribute to late Mehnaz Begum
over her services in the field of
culture. A number of singers including
Saira Naseem, Humara Channa and other
prominent singers attended the meeting.
Ban imposed on release
of Indian Films on
PAF
cinemas-October 2012
Pakistan Air Force has imposed
ban on release of Indian films
in PAF Cinemas. On the other
hand cinema contractor has
submitted application against
this decision with the plea that
since Pakistani films are not
being produced regularly so
cinema business would be badly
affected with this ban. It is
worth mentioning that previously
there were forty (40) PAF
cinemas in Pakistan but with the
fall of cinema business in
Pakistan there are only four PAF
cinemas, presently working and
these are PAF Cinema Lahore,
Rawalpindi, Peshawar and
Sargodha (Shaheen). Being
located in posh areas only
Hollywood and Bollywood films
are being released on these
cinemas. PAF authorities have
passed the instructions to all
base commanders to implement
this ban forthwith. In reaction
to this order, Cinema
contractors have closed and
stopped releasing of any of the
films.

Hummalo Mahganj was the only film which
was produced in Balochi language; the
film was though completed and was
cleared by censor board but could be
released due to some technical reasons.
Anwar Iqbal (Ptv Karachi actor) and A.
R. Baloch played the lead role in the
film. The press show of the film was
projected on Bambino cinema screen. Now
after laps of thirty eight years Anwar
Iqbal finally managed to release the
film on Balochi TV channel Wish. The
film is based on a true story of Qalat
state which was pen downed by Syed
Zahoor Shah Hashmi and directed by Aslam
Baloch, music composed by Fateh
Muhammad. One of film song “Nai sah wah
wich rawa”, which was sung by Ishrat
Jahan and Wali Muhammad and it was
written by Atta Shad who died on
February 13, 1997. Anita Gul, Anwar

Lasi, Mehmood Lasi, Muhammad Hussain
Madari, Dear Asghar Nadir Shah Adil and

Chairman Pakistan Film Producers Association Ahad Malik died
on March 29, 2013. From last two years, Ahad was suffering
from Paralysis attack. On 28th march, he suffered from brain
hemorrhage and he was taken to local Hospital in Defence
area where he took last breath on Saturday. He was buried in
Graveyard of Gulberg, Lahore.

classical singer from the 80s, Mehnaz Begum, died in Bahrain
on January 19, 2012 at the age of fifty five. Mehnaz
breathed her last while she had been flown towards the US
for treatment. Her condition deteriorated out of the blue
and she was rushed to some hospital in Bahrain but efforts
went in vain. She’d been struggling with a respiratory
system problem and diabetes. Mehnaz was born to famous

Ejaz Samrat died on January 11, 2013 as a result of heart
attack. Renowned film related personalities attended his
funeral prayer and Qut at his residence at China Scheme,
Gujarpura, Lahore. Khanu Samrat joined film industry in 1993
as choreographer under study Khanu Samrat. He performed as
choreographer in almost hunder films, which included Dil
Kissi Ka Dost Nahi, Jeeva Gujjar, Machh Jail, Jungle Ka
Qanoon, Madam Rani and Pappu Gujar. He left behind a widow
and one daughter.
Syed Waqar Azim
January 3, 2013 Senior personality of Karachi cinema Syed Waqar Azim died on January 3, 2013. He was father of Shadab Azim, proprietor of Shadab Films Karachi. Waqar Azim joined film line with Jagdeep Cinema of Merath. After migration he worked as chief engineer in Pak films, Firdous, Odeon, Melodey (Islamabad) and Eroz cinemas. Subsequently, in 1973, he established Vikras Corporation and provided facilities to the projection room of cinemas. At the time of his death he was 91 years old and since long he was on bed rested. May God bless his soul.
Master Tufail Hussain

musician Master Tufail Hussain died on January 2, 2113 as a
result of heart attack. He was the elder son of Master
Inayat Hussain and assisted his father in number of films.
He composed music of very less number of films like
Bhola Sajjan
(1974)
and
Geet Kahin Sangeet Kahin
(1969).
In his later part of life he was shifted to England and last
year he came to Pakistan. .
