Muhammad Ishaq was a born actor as he had inclination towards performing art since he childhood. As teenager he started watching films and then in his leisure time he used to act the same roles of the film he watched amongst his colleagues. His desire to become an actor with financial condition of his family forced him to land at world of filmdom.

Muhammad Ishaq moved to magical world and started his film career in India with name of Garaj Singh in 1960But after observing the low chances of good breakthrough in Indian film industry just after one year he finally migrated to Karachi and played an important role in Hum Aik Hain which was his debut film in Pakistan. He mostly appeared in Dhaka based Urdu films.  Those films mostly had Shabnam in lead role and Robin Ghosh as musician of the film. Therefore, Garaj Babu established good chemistry with artist couple. Kaisey kahon, Bahana, Darshan are his famous Dhaka based films. In Darshan, he played the interesting role of Shabnam’s lover. Shabnam who was shifted to his original hometown Bangladesh so when she  along with her musician husband Robin Ghosh visited Karachi in 2012, they especially visited Garaj Babu at his residence.

In his prime era, Garaj Babu married to actress Naina, subsequently he was blessed with two daughters named Naeema Garaj  and Huma who also acted in films  TV and stage drams.
