They remained present in the minds of their fans and will never be forgotten. All of us are obliged to all the artists who gave their best to amuse and entertain us. Renowned folk singer and actor Inayat Hussain Beli died on May 28, 2018 after heart attack. His funeral prayers were held at Gulberg-lll after Zuhar prayer on May 29, 2018.

Renowned Faisalabad stage actor Ghafoor Kodu died on May 19, 2018 at Faisalabad after a severe heart attack. Ghafoor was born in 1978 at Faisalabad. He started his acting career from Faisalabad stage and through his hard work and God gifted qualities he became the public choice at present. At the time of his death he was busy in stage drama at Minerva Theater Faisalabad.

Stage actress Irsa Kiyani died on May 13, 2018 at Faisalabad due to heart attack. Basically she was from Multan but after getting appreciation from Faisalabad stage audience she shifted here for some time. She was not only good looking actress but she was excellent performer and dancer as well. In recent past she started taking narcotics and liquor and with passage of time she increased its quantity even she used to perform while fully drunk. This increased dosage became one of the main causes of her death.

Renowned film comedian Chakram died on May 11, 2018 in Islamabad. His real name was Zill-e-Hasnain who started his film career from Watan Ka Sepahi. Although Chakram appeared in large number of films but unfortunately never made any significant place as solo comedian.

 

Madiha Gohar
April 25, 2018

TV actress, play writer, director of social theater and women’s rights activist Madiha Gohar died on April 25 after a prolonged fight with cancer on April 25, 2018. She was suffering from cancer for the past three years.

The actress, director and women’s rights activist founded Ajoka Theatre in 1984 as part of her commitment to theatre for social change. Ajoka’s plays have been based on social issues and human rights such as female literacy and honour killings. Ajoka has performed in various countries across Asia and Europe and has also staged productions in backyards and open spaces in poor localities to raise awareness. In 2006, Madeeha became the first Pakistani to be honoured with the prestigious Prince Claus Award for her leadership of Ajoka. Madiha Gohar was wife of famed director, producer and writer Shahid Nadeem, elder sister of famous actress Faryal Gohar and mother of actress, director and producer Savera Nadeem.

 

Shahzad Haider
March 18, 2018

Renowned film director of Pakistan film industry, Shahzad Haider passed away on March 18, 2018. After carrying out shooting of his film at Evernew Studios Lahore he reached his home located at Madina Chowk Sabza Zar Lahore felt numbness in his hand fingers on March 17, 2018 so he was evacuated to Lahore hospital where he suffered with hemorrhage and subsequently died. Deceased director Shahzad Raza belonged to Qadirpur Multan. He started his film career as Assistant Film Director with Nasir and then he attached with Naseem Haider Shah and Anjam Pervez. Almost 30 films are on his credit. At present he was the busiest film director and his many films were on set at the time of his demise. His films include Dil Diyan Lagian, Jagga, Khushi, Killer, Puttar Makhan Gujjar Da, Ranjhay Hath Gandasa, Tohfa Piyar Da, Zindagi Guzaro Hass Ke, Paidaishi Ghunda, Tawaif and Dada Pota.
His body was moved to his hometown and funeral prayers were held at Qadirpur Multan. He left behind two widows and four children.

 

Mehmood Sipra
March 1, 2018

Film-maker and businessman Mahmud Sipra passed away in Dubai after suffering a heart attack on March 1, 2018 at the age of 75.

Sipra was born in Ranchi, India in 1943, into a family of distinguished professionals. His father was Saeed Ahmed, an army major, and his brother, Rasheed Ahmed Khan, was SSP Chittagong. He was cousin to Justice Sajjad A Sipra, Riaz A Sipra, who served as inspector general of police, and Imtiaz Sipra, an eminent sports journalist. Sipra started his career in Karachi with Sasa Advertising and won an award for a cigarette campaign. He produced some other exceptional works and also worked as a TV English newscaster in Karachi. According to his sister, Samia Tareen, Sipra had shifted to the US in 1971 where he began a shipping business which continued until the 1980s. Read More

Sipra also produced film and the most well-known film that he helped finance was The Jigsaw Man (1983), a British film, which had actors like Laurence Olivier and Michael Caine in its cast. ‘Suraj Pe Dastak’ and ‘Khyber Horse’ were two Pakistani films that he started but unfortunately they could not be completed despite many attempts. The music of the former film was released. It had Mehdi Hasan, Noor Jahan, Ustad Rais Khan and Tahira Syed among the singers. He published a English language novel, Pawn to King Three, from England in 1985. It was written in the background of the Partition.

Sipra’s niece and chief executive officer of Synergy Inc Ambrin Sipra informed that his last few years were spent in Dubai and he also wrote articles for an English daily in Pakistan. Samia said Sipra had been suffering from cardiac issues and he had been on the ventilator for the last two days. The cause of death was pneumonia, she said, Sipra was divorced and leaves behind two sons, Faisal and Taimur.
He was burried at Lahore on March 6, 2018.

 

Muhamamd Hanif
February 16, 2018

Former film producer Muahmmad Hanif died on February 16, 2018 in Lahore. His funeral prayers were held at Allama Iqbal Town near Shahnoor Studios Lahore. Muhammad Hanif was born in 1962 and left behind widow, two sons and three daughters. Wehshi Jatt, Nagin Jogi, Jabro Te Nizam, Jadugarni and Tera Jadu Chal Geya are some of his famous films.

 

Munna Lahori

Actor Matloob-ur-Rehman alias Munna Lahori famous for his character of Zagoota Jinn in popular children’s comedy series “Ainak Wala Jinn” died on February 16, 2018 in Lahore. Matloob gained popularity with Ainak Wala Jinn in 1993 as his character Zagoota became a fan favourite. A few years back he got paralysis and was restricted to bed.

 

Qazi Wajid
February 11, 2018

Veteran TV actor Qazi Wajid passed away on February 11, 2018 in Karachi due to heart attack, he was 87. The actor was admitted to the hospital in Karachi yesterday due to cardiac pain. The veteran actor was also awarded with a Pride of Performance Award in 1988 by the Government of Pakistan. Wajid, born on May 26, 1930, started his career with Radio Pakistan. After 25 years on radio, he went on to star in dramas and theaters. Qazi was a part of in numerous hit shows such as Tanhaaiyan, Dhoop Kinaray, Mehendi, Khuda Ki Basti and many more. He dedicated 65 years of his life to showbiz.

 

Ustad Nazar Hussain
January 21, 2018

Veteran musician Ustad Nazar Hussain had breathed his last on January 21, 2018 at Canal Burg near Thokar Niaz Baig Lahore after suffering from lung infection. Ustad Nazar Hussain remained associated with the Radio Pakistan and retired from its Central Production Unit. He also worked for the Pakistan Television. He was initially trained in playing Sarood but later on turned to music direction. Ustad Nazar started his career as a music director from the Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad. He composed many popular ghazals, including raat phaili hay teray surmai anchal ki tarah and lutf who ishq mein paey hain sung by Noor Jehan and kutch din tou baso meri ankhon mein sung by Bilqees Khanum. He was last seen singing Majeed Amjad’ ghazal jo din kabhi nahi beeta for Sachal Studios. Ustad Nazar Hussain had contracted marriage with singer and actor Arifa Siddiqi and had a daughter with her.

 

Akhtar Shad

Renowned film TV actor Akhtar Shad died on January 21, 2018 at Lahroe. Basically he was excise inspector but due to his inclination towards creative art he joined statge, film and TV as an actor. He played a villain role in film Madam X which was released in 2009. Akthar Shad was very active in showbiz activities.

Renowned film still photographer Jamshed Iqbal died on January 14, 2018 in Lahore.

 

Munnu Bhai
January 19, 2018

Pakistan’s renowned columnist and poet Munir Ahmed Qureshi, more popularly referred to as Munnu Bhai, passed away on January 19, 2018 at the age of 84. Munnu Bhai had been suffering from kidney and cardiac problems for a while and had been going through routine dialysis treatment at a private hospital in Lahore.Munnu Bhai was born in Wazirabad on February 6, 1933, and was affiliated with journalism for more than 25 years. He also wrote several dramas for Pakistan Television, the most famous being Sohna Chandni which will always be remembered by his fans. In 2007, he was given Pride of Performance award by the state of Pakistan.
Apart from his work as a playwright and poet, Munnu Bhai also worked towards free media. He said that terrorism, poverty and social degradation could be eliminated by means of truthful journalism. He strongly believed that with time, journalism in Pakistan would mature and perform a constructive role in society. In 2014, he donated his entire literary collection to Government College University (GCU) as a token of appreciation for its contribution to the promotion of drama and literature.

 

Zubaida Tariq (Apa)
January 4, 2018

Famed chef, cooking expert, and television personality Zubaida Tariq passed away on January 4, 2018 in Karachi at the age of 72 due to a heart failure. She was born into an educated in family of Hyderabad Deccan in 1945, Zubaida was youngest of 9 siblings which include late playwright Fatima Surraya Bajiya and noted satirist Anwer Maqsood. The family sailed to Karachi on September 18, 1948, immediately after the fall of the Hyderabad state, which was invaded by the Indian army on September 11, the day the Quaid-i-Azam died here. Zubaida Tariq was famous for her handy culinary and housekeeping hints and gave credit of her skills to having grown up in a joint family. Her funeral prayers was offered at Sultan Masjid DHA, Karachi after Friday prayers.

Thus there is dire need to do some arrangements to preserve it with the same zeal and enthusiasm what rest of the world is doing.
