They remained present in the minds of their fans and will never be forgotten. All of us are obliged to all the artists who gave their best to amuse and entertain us. Since they are no more with us so leaving aside their personal life, let pray for them and Join us in praying that Allah Almighty bestow His blessings upon them and rest the departed souls in eternal peace.

Muhamamd Hanif
February 16, 2018

Former film producer Muahmmad Hanif died on February 16, 2018 in Lahore. His funeral prayers were held at Allama Iqbal Town near Shahnoor Studios Lahore. Muhammad Hanif was born in 1962 and left behind widow, two sons and three daughters. Wehshi Jatt, Nagin Jogi, Jabro Te Nizam, Jadugarni and Tera Jadu Chal Geya are some of his famous films.


Munna Lahori

Actor Matloob-ur-Rehman alias Munna Lahori famous for his character of Zagoota Jinn in popular children’s comedy series “Ainak Wala Jinn” died on February 16, 2018 in Lahore. Matloob gained popularity with Ainak Wala Jinn in 1993 as his character Zagoota became a fan favourite. A few years back he got paralysis and was restricted to bed.


Qazi Wajid
February 11, 2018

Veteran TV actor Qazi Wajid passed away on February 11, 2018 in Karachi due to heart attack, he was 87. The actor was admitted to the hospital in Karachi yesterday due to cardiac pain. The veteran actor was also awarded with a Pride of Performance Award in 1988 by the Government of Pakistan. Wajid, born on May 26, 1930, started his career with Radio Pakistan. After 25 years on radio, he went on to star in dramas and theaters. Qazi was a part of in numerous hit shows such as Tanhaaiyan, Dhoop Kinaray, Mehendi, Khuda Ki Basti and many more. He dedicated 65 years of his life to showbiz.


Ustad Nazar Hussain

Veteran musician Ustad Nazar Hussain had breathed his last on January 21, 2018 at Canal Burg near Thokar Niaz Baig Lahore after suffering from lung infection. Ustad Nazar Hussain remained associated with the Radio Pakistan and retired from its Central Production Unit. He also worked for the Pakistan Television. He was initially trained in playing Sarood but later on turned to music direction. Ustad Nazar started his career as a music director from the Radio Pakistan, Hyderabad. He composed many popular ghazals, including raat phaili hay teray surmai anchal ki tarah and lutf who ishq mein paey hain sung by Noor Jehan and kutch din tou baso meri ankhon mein sung by Bilqees Khanum. He was last seen singing Majeed Amjad’ ghazal jo din kabhi nahi beeta for Sachal Studios. Ustad Nazar Hussain had contracted marriage with singer and actor Arifa Siddiqi and had a daughter with her.


Akhtar Shad

Renowned film TV actor Akhtar Shad died on January 21, 2018 at Lahroe. Basically he was excise inspector but due to his inclination towards creative art he joined statge, film and TV as an actor. He played a villain role in film Madam X which was released in 2009. Akthar Shad was very active in showbiz activities.

Renowned film still photographer Jamshed Iqbal died on January 14, 2018 in Lahore.


Munnu Bhai
January 19, 2018

Pakistan’s renowned columnist and poet Munir Ahmed Qureshi, more popularly referred to as Munnu Bhai, passed away on January 19, 2018 at the age of 84. Munnu Bhai had been suffering from kidney and cardiac problems for a while and had been going through routine dialysis treatment at a private hospital in Lahore.Munnu Bhai was born in Wazirabad on February 6, 1933, and was affiliated with journalism for more than 25 years. He also wrote several dramas for Pakistan Television, the most famous being Sohna Chandni which will always be remembered by his fans. In 2007, he was given Pride of Performance award by the state of Pakistan.
Apart from his work as a playwright and poet, Munnu Bhai also worked towards free media. He said that terrorism, poverty and social degradation could be eliminated by means of truthful journalism. He strongly believed that with time, journalism in Pakistan would mature and perform a constructive role in society. In 2014, he donated his entire literary collection to Government College University (GCU) as a token of appreciation for its contribution to the promotion of drama and literature.


Zubaida Tariq (Apa)
January 4, 2018

Famed chef, cooking expert, and television personality Zubaida Tariq passed away on January 4, 2018 in Karachi at the age of 72 due to a heart failure. She was born into an educated in family of Hyderabad Deccan in 1945, Zubaida was youngest of 9 siblings which include late playwright Fatima Surraya Bajiya and noted satirist Anwer Maqsood. The family sailed to Karachi on September 18, 1948, immediately after the fall of the Hyderabad state, which was invaded by the Indian army on September 11, the day the Quaid-i-Azam died here. Zubaida Tariq was famous for her handy culinary and housekeeping hints and gave credit of her skills to having grown up in a joint family. Her funeral prayers was offered at Sultan Masjid DHA, Karachi after Friday prayers.

Some of their film work proved to be a master piece but what so ever their business status was; one factor is established that it is now part of our cultural history. Unfortunately, mostly their work being destroyed just because of the mentioned reasons while negating its importance. Thus there is dire need to do some arrangements to preserve it with the same zeal and enthusiasm what rest of the world is doing.
